The day’s bible teaching started at 9.30 am with an organ prelude. The Choir and Orchestra led with a few songs after which the congregation joined them. The teacher for the day was Rev. Segun Adeliyi who taught on “Accessing the Power through Holy Ghost Baptism”.
Rev. Adeliyi gave a brief on the topic that, Baptism of the Holy Ghost is the spirit gifted on men who have been purified. The Power is sent on man to be able to overcome all principalities and evil plans of the devil. God knew the disciples would face trials and afflictions that’s why he asked them to wait in the upper room at Jerusalem until the Holy Ghost was sent. The spirit of God which is the Holy Spirit was with the judges of Israel that’s why they could do exploits for God, likewise some prophets like Isaiah, Ezekiel and Elijah who had the Holy Spirit had the power to go and preach. Without the the Holy Spirit on all these people mentioned above they would not be able to do all they did.
For us in the new dispensation the Holy Ghost dwells in us and helps us to do the work of God. The Holy Ghost baptism gives the power for service. The Holy Ghost is brought down through prayer and comes to those who consecrate their lives. All present was assured that it is possible for whoever has been saved and sanctified and have not yet received the Holy Ghost to receive it if they are longing for it.
The Teacher gave further explanations on what the Holy Spirit does for us, some of which include; explaining the scriptures and helping us with references from the Bible. Teaching us what to say in times of trouble; guiding us throughout our life on this earth. It never leaves us until we leave this world. The Holy Ghost makes us speak in tongues which are comprehensible languages.
Everyone was cautioned on how we treat the holy Holy spirit sometimes. Whoever fears God hates sin. The Bible tell us not to grieve the Holy Spirit. We can grieve the Holy Spirit in our conversations, in our dressing, in what we hear and watch. The Spirit of God is what will help us make the rapture and meet with Christ in the air if we keep our graces.
